During my attendance at the many New England based outdoor expositions, I met quite a few people and browsed just as many products. They truly are amazing shows! If you are in the New England region, they are a ‘must attend’. It is a great opportunity to see product and meet people who are ‘local’ and an opportunity to support small business in New England. During these tough economic times, I believe that we need to support business from the ground up; starting in our own back yards!
One of the vendors that I met was a real down to earth guy named Timo Sanborn. He and his wife Janice have a great product called “Fierce Face Protection”, a bandana/facemask product that is just perfect for the New England outdoors.
While spending time in Vermont, snowboarding and working as a Ski Lift Operator, Timo struggled with finding a solution to keeping his face warm. A typical bandana wouldn’t cut it on the snowy slopes of Vermont. He purchased a bandana type of product himself, but found it to be inferior in quality. In fact, after just weeks of use, it tore at the closure point. That is when he took it upon himself to solve the problem. That was the birth of “Fierce Face Protection”, a colorful bandana with a cold/wet face mask protection. Two years later, Snow Rebels now offers over 100 colors and four options of fleece linings.
They offer a lightweight version called the “Ultra Light”. The Ultra Lights are a simple poly option for late Spring through Fall use. It actually works to keep your face cool as it wicks moisture, yet the product still protects you from ultraviolet light, bugs, dust and other pollutants that you may come across while in the great outdoors. I have one of these bad boys and I can’t wait to use it on my boat this season!
They also offer a mid-weight fleece that meets most needs year round! The “Recreational” is a great solution for your needs in late Fall and Winter. It is very comfortable and can protect you in weather that is cool, to downright cold. It is a Winter sports enthusiast’s best friend! I used mine during a recent ice fishing trip up to Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and I’m glad I did. Not only did it protect my face from the cold and the wind, but also from the snow mobile spray and exhaust when we were moving about the ice. A friend and colleague of mine, Amy J also uses her Fierce Face Protection during her ice fishing season. They are not only comfortable and effective, but they are very stylish!
The next step up in the line of Fierce Face Protection is the “Performance 3.0”. It is a SNO TECH, Made in the USA, fleece liner. This series also includes double fleece reversible bandanas. This rugged bandana is used typically for winter sports & outdoor activities in northern climates. If you are a skier, snowmobile enthusiast, or anyone else who enjoys the deep cold, this one is for you!
The heavy hitter in the series is called the “Pro Series 4.0”. This bad boy is based on another SNO TECH, Made in the USA, Fleece that blocks 95% of wind. What makes this product different is the scallops cut out for goggles or glasses. It boasts an expedition quality lining. It is a proven product by snow industry professionals who utilized them during the Winter of 2013 and now into 2014.
All of these 4 options include rolled seams at the nose & serged edges down to the point, creating durable, comfortable, moisture wicking face protector. They use a Velcro closure that is longer than most which allows a comfortable fit for even the biggest guy! The folks at Fierce Face Protection also have an option for you to use their screen printing services. This is an ideal option for clubs, schools, or businesses that want a customized product at a good price!
While the winter season is winding down, keep in mind that this product is also perfect for folks who tour or commute using motorcycles! Again, you are not only afforded face protection during these activities, but you will look bad ass!
